Early last spring, when the weather was as cold as it is now, I got an email from Lisa. She is a resident of Rhode Island and reached out to me about shooting an Washington Memorial engagement session on the National Mall. Lisa was returning to Washington, DC, with her fiance Charlie for a friend’s wedding.
An attribute I love about Lisa, and most of the couples who book with me, is that she’s “all in” for the fun of being engaged. Headed to a wedding in DC? That’s where we met; let’s get Washington Memorial engagement photos!
Lisa did everything right! She contacted me early to secure her date. She picked out two amazing outfits. She shot on the Mall at sunrise. She applied for and received a photography permit.
In doing so, the photos were magical! Lisa, I hope you enjoy these photos for a lifetime!
Lisa and Charlie met me on Memorial Day at sunrise. Lisa wore an elegant Eliza J chiffon maxi. Charlie wore his dress blues. Everywhere we went, people congratulated Charlie on his service. It was great to see veterans smile and walk to Charlie, eager to shake his hand.
Lisa is an amazing writer. I was introduced to her through our session. I have to admit, however, I’ve stalked her writing career as she travels the globe to report on international sailing… like, oh, the Olympics!
As I waited for Lisa and Charlie, the sun started to rise over the memorials. The pinky-orange glow, cool temps, roughly 20 people, and Lisa and Charlie met the face of Lincoln on those marble steps.
It all started in DC for Charlie and Lisa. They attended and fell in love at American University. It was wherefore fitting to have Washington Memorial engagement photos– and Lincoln, and WWII and DC War Memorial.
