Victoria and Joe are getting married this weekend– exciting! I shot their National Mall engagement session during the Cherry Blossom Festival. We had a blast!
If you’ll recall, the cherry blossoms began to bloom in mid March. In late March, we were hit with a snow storm. The storm killed a significant number of the cherry blossoms. Luckily, there was a “second bloom,” and we were able to photograph in the wind and whirls of falling cherry blossoms.
Joe and Victoria met in high school on a blind date. Victoria attended an all-girls school and needed a date to a dance. Joe, a friend of a friend, happily volunteered! Victoria is so-so smart and such a stunner, who wouldn’t volunteer to be her date!?
Victoria’s bright pink top was a perfect compliment to the falling cherry blossoms. And those block heels? So cute, right? They are from Steve Madden, and you can get them here. (**note, this is an affiliate link)
National Mall engagement sessions are the definition of iconic Washington. Shooting a National Mall engagement session during the Cherry Blossom Festival is like adding magic sprinkles to iconic DC.
Usually shooting during a National Mall engagement session during the Cherry Blossom festival is a fight– a fight for sidewalk space, for shooting locations unencumbered of hundreds of visitors, and a fight against the cold. We shot on a mild Sunday morning. The weather was perfect and the Tidal Basin was relatively empty.
Victoria and Joe grew up in the DC suburbs. Victoria now manages a medical office and Joe manages pool systems for a national sports club chain. Both continue to love living in the Washington, DC, area. Shooting a National Mall engagement session was a logical location for these two.
Victoria and Joe will get married this weekend just outside of DC at a beautiful Catholic ceremony followed by a reception at a gorgeous country club– stay tuned for the exact details!

Beautiful images. I love the one with the Cherry Blossom and the monument, the reflection in the water, all of it — just beautiful!
Thank you so much, Sandy!
