Jenna and James met me to shoot their National Mall engagement photos in April, and sadly, I just getting around to blogging! Now green-leafed trees rim the Tidal Basin. So, let’s take a look back at when the pretty pink flowers filled the Washington, DC air, and I met up with this adorable couple who I’m sure you’ll just love!
These two met when they were both assigned to live on the same floor for their first year of college. Jenna is on the shorter side, and James? Well, he’s super tall! Jenna says that James stood out to her as she was moving in because of his height.
During the first few days on their floor, the residents played an icebreaking game: describe yourself with an adjective that begins with the same letter as your first name. Jenna was Jovial Jenna and James was Jaunty James.
Jenna and James didn’t start dating right away. They were friends for several years before finally dating. When it started, Jenna was worried about the timing of their relationship. It was only months before Jenna was set to study abroad in Spain. Could their relationship stand the test of time and distance?
James, however, made a long distance relationship easy. He sent Jenna flowers on Valentines Day– in Spain! And, he made his first trip ever to Europe to visit Jenna for spring break. Jenna new then that James was a keeper!
As a photographer, I’m an observer of people in love. As I edit photos, I get to see the quieter side of people’s love. During our National Mall engagement photos shoot, I focused on Jenna. Did the wind blow her hair astray? Her necklace straight? What I missed, was just how tenderly James looks at Jenna. How he gently reaches for her. How he kisses her and holds on tightly.
Yep, James is a keeper.
National Mall engagement photos were perfect for these two love birds who fell in love in and around the Nation’s Capital.
I am so excited to shoot their wedding later this year at Antrim 1844. A beautiful historic estate with the most beautiful gardens just outside of Washington, DC.
