Manassas National Battlefield Engagement Session with Cheryl and Jeremy. Cheryl and Jeremy’s chic engagement session at the Battlefield occurred late summer- early fall. The long grasses perfectly highlighted the dewy evening light!
When shooting Manassas National Battlefield engagement sessions, I love to start couples in the forest. I have a secret parking lot! If you’ve been to the Old Stone House in Manassas National Battlefield for your engagement session, you know that parking is impossible! I have a secret parking lot nearby with access to fields and forests.
Because the light changes a lot near sunset, I like to start in the forest. It gets dark in the forest before it gets dark in the fields. Shooting in the forest early, allows me to control the light. If you shoot in the forest too late for your Manassas National Battlefield engagement session, the color of the light will change. Any surface that reflects light, skin and light-colored clothing reflects a lot of light, will reflect greens and blues. If you shoot too close to sunset, you won’t be bathed in golden-dewy light. You’ll look like a zombie!
After shooting in the forest for their session, Cheryl and Jeremy changed and braved long grasses and ticks to get these beautiful photos.
One thing Cheryl was concerned about when shooting her Manassas National Battlefield Engagement Session was the height difference between her soon-to-be-husband and her. To overcome this, I put a space between Cheryl and Jeremy when they are looking at one another. This way, Cheryl doesn’t have to look straight up when looking at Jeremy. I also looked for opportunities to break down their standing heights. We did a lift. We have a variety of sitting photos.
And yes, after getting out must-have shots, we waited for parking spots at The Stone House to capitalize on the stone steps and hill. I LOVED capturing the sky in with this fun silhouette image.
